Luke 17:20-21   If I am going to intentionally seek His Kingdom first,                then I will…

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."  Mark 10:45   Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Thy Kingdom Come

    Aug 25-26, 2012

    Matt 6:33

Why does Jesus talk so much about the Kingdom of God?
    • Jesus put a very high priority on entering or obtaining the Kingdom even if it costs us everything
Matthew 13:44-46   What is the Kingdom of God?
    • Realm of God’s authority
    • It resides within the hearts of men
Luke 17:20-21   The Kingdom of God is not only the realm of His authority, but it includes the realm of His: Presence    Purpose                  Power        Priorities       Provision Plans          Perspective   Matthew 6:24-34   24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.   Jesus is establishing a clear distinction between two worlds
    • The world in which we live
1 John 2:16-17   The things that are not seen…spiritual things, eternal things, kingdom things   25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?   28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.   We are admonished not to spend our time focusing and fretting about temporary things v  We are admonished not to worry…
    • We are told we should be anxious for nothing…
    • We are told to cast all our cares on him…
v  Too many of us obsess about things that have zero eternal value   v  Sometimes it is difficult to define the line between where my job ends and where God’s begins   33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.   Jesus clearly teaches that if we will get off the merry-go-round of worry, anxiety, and focusing on temporary things…that we can live a different kind of life.
    • He indicates that if we get our priorities straight…and seek after the important things…that all these other things that we usually worry about will fall into place.
When I seek his Kingdom first…I do it on purpose…I do it intentionally. We don’t stumble onto the Kingdom…or find it by accident.
    • When I seek His kingdom first…then I actively seek and put a high value on His…
